Yelp.com May 31, 2010 - "Monster
pancakes!!! We heard about this place while searching through Yelp for some fun places to eat in our area and thought
we'd give it a shot for brunch. It's a very intimate little spot where the owner/fry cook is whipping up his artery
clogging goodies right in front of all the diners, while also gabbing it up with whoever is open to conversation. You
definitely feel a sense of community in the place and can tell that it plays host to many regulars.
Understandable
that people keep coming back, because the food is delicious and the portions are huge! For example, my wife and I both
ordered a side of ONE scrambled egg. When it came out, it was more like THREE. We each also got an order of pancakes.
I had the chocolate chip banana combo and Ruth had the strawberry banana. This meant two large plates filled to
the edge with two monster pancakes...not even any room to put syrup on. Which was fine by me, because my pancakes were
so good that they didn't even need it...and I love me some syrup. We quickly became full and neither of us could even finish
what we ordered. For Ruth it's understandable. For me, that's a rarity. But I ended up leaving almost half
a plate of delicious pancakes. All that food, plus a side of bacon, french toast for Adin, orange juice, coffee and
freshly brewed iced team...all for just $30. I highly suggest Countryside Kitchen as a must eat destination for breakfast
to anyone in the Putnum or Westchester area. It's not something you'll be able to do daily, unless you want to turn
into Jabba the Hut, but it's an awesome idea for a once in a blue moon treat." Matt S. April 17, 2010 - "The Countryside Kitchen is the best little secret here in Mahopac!!!
The owners are both genuine and make you feel right at home and the food is to die for!!! They have this breakfast dish called
the chicken coop which is home fries, ham, peppers, onions with two eggs any style rested on top of all this great stuff with
cheddar topping it off! Today my Son and I sat at the counter and he had the pancakes which are light and fluffy and the size
of an old cadilac hub cap . Will be going back for there burgers as they were cooking them on the grill looked and smelled
awesome!!!! The countryside is trully a diamond in the ruff!!!" Tony M.
